Remember, Harold Camping? Yes, the man who predicted that rapture will take place on May 21, 2011 and final judgment to occur on October 21, 2011. He went into hibernation after his failed prediction. But a couple of weeks ago, he came out to apologize for being unbiblical in his prediction.
Through a press statement released by Family Radio, Camping asks God to forgive him: “We tremble before God as we humbly ask Him for forgiveness for making that sinful statement. We are so thankful that God…will forgive even this sin.â€
He goes on to say: “We now realize that those people who were calling our attention to the Bible’s statement that ‘of that day and hour knoweth no man’ (Matthew 24:36 & Mark 13:32), were right in their understanding and we were wrong.â€
He then makes this profound statement: “God has humbled us through the events of May 21, to continue to even more fervently search the Scriptures (the Bible), but to be more faithful in our understanding.â€
I believe that Camping’s repentance is sincere and that Christ has forgiven him. I also hope that Camping has, firmly, grasped that Scripture never changes because “All men are like grass…the grass withers but the Word of God shall stand forever†(Isaiah 40:6-8).
