‘Speaker assures of ‘taking Parliament to the people’

The Speaker Henry Chimunthu Banda says the National Assembly is committed to taking Parliament to communities to promote public participation and understanding of parliamentary activities.

He made the remarks during this year’s commemoration of the Commonwealth Day in Mzuzu yesterday. The commemorations were held under the theme ‘Opportunity through Enterprise.’

He said the event is one of the activities under the Strategic Plan of the National Assembly.

The speech by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom read out by Fanny Kondowe, a student from Ekwendeni Girls Secondary School, celebrated the achievements across the world.
