Flamboyant Boxing promoter Mike ‘Bangwe 1’ Chitenje has said the international friendly football match between the Flames and Zimbabwe’s Warriors will help build up the hype for the forthcoming non-title professional bout between Chimwemwe ‘Chipembere’ Chiotcha and Zimbabwean welterweight champion Charles Manyuchi.
Chiotcha is scheduled to take to the ring against the highly rated Zimbabwean pugilist at BAT Ground on Sunday May 26, just a day after the Flames host Zimbabwe at Kamuzu Stadium.
“The fact that the bout will be staged just a day after the football match makes it interesting and timely because we’ll have two matches pitting Malawi and Zimbabwe within two days.
“The football match will definitely help build the excitement ahead of the bout involving two highly rated boxers,” said Chitenje.
Chiotcha boasts of 13 wins, a single loss and no draw while his Zimbabwean opponent has an enviable record of 14 wins and one loss.
So far, five companies namely Safari General Dealers, Nangaunozge Building Contractors, Chombe Tea, Bath and Tile and Tile and Tape Connections have pledged to sponsor the eight-round bout.
