Evirom coach Mario Gadaga says there is nothing special with their clash about Red Lions tomorrow in the Carlsberg Cup quarter-final.

Gadaga said this in a post-match interview after Evirom saw off Bvumbwe Research 2-1 in a tightly contested round of 16 match at the Kamuzu Stadium.

“I told the boys that if you score you can defend it and win the game. As for the next assignment, we prepare for each and every assignment in similar fashion. There is nothing special facing Red Lions; we are in the same Super League,” he said.

His remarks seemed to undermine the fact that the Lions are on song, leading the Super League standings for three consecutive weeks. Evirom are third from the bottom of the Super League table on six points.

And the Zomba soldiers showed their intent to seize silverware this season by booting out resurgent Mighty Wanderers at the weekend. The Lions also reached the Presidential Cup semi-finals.

Today in another quarter-final match, Blantyre United face Mponela United at Silver Stadium.

Yesterday, buoyant Big Bullets had other quarter-final issues to sort out with defiant Kamuzu Barracks at Dedza Stadium whereas Mafco hosted Moyale Barracks at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota.

At stake is K7 million (about $17 500) cash prize for the champions, K3.5 million (about $8 750) and K500 000 (about $1 250) for the runner-up and third-placed sides respectively.
