‘Good leaders won’t come like manna’

Catholics urged to vote for responsible leaders

The Roman Catholic Church has asked eligible voters to actively participate in the electoral processes to ensure that only deserving candidates are voted into office.

Limbe Cathedral Parish chairperson Casper Jangale made the remarks when he addressed Catholics during activities marking the closure of ‘2013 Year of Faith’ calendar last Sunday.

He said good leaders do not come as manna from heaven; hence, every well-meaning citizen should take interest in the type of leaders for Malawi to achieve her social and economic aspirations between 2014 and 2019.

“No matter how much we pray for good leaders, good leaders will not fall from the sky. God doesn’t impose leaders on us but He empowers us to identify good ones to run the affairs of the nation,” said Jangale.

Parish priest for Limbe Cathedral Father Focus Chikweya said the Catholic Church is committed to praying for free, fair and credible tripartite elections.
