Living Word Evangelistic Church (Liwec) on Friday held a night vigil, praying against the spread of Ebola to Malawi, among other pertinent issues.

Director of Liwec, Prophet David Mbewe asked God to spare Malawians from the deadly disease during the night of prayer held in Lilongwe.

Mbewe quoted 2 Chronicles 7: 13 that says: “If my people called by name humble themselves and repent their sins, I will come from heaven and heal their land.”

At dawn, the service was climaxed with candle lighting by patrons symbolising lightening of people’s hearts in the walk with God.

Attendants to the service included former minister of defence Ken Kandodo, former deputy minister of finance and youth, sports and culture Charles Mchacha and Mulanje South Parliamentarian Bon Kalindo.

Other notable figures included Walter Nyamilandu, president of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and former parliamentarian Bertha Masiku.

The night was spiced by gospel music from Liwec Praise Team, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Thoko Katimba.
