13 register for Chipiku league

he Chipiku Central Region Football Association League (CRFA) kicks off on Saturday with 13 out of 20 teams having completed registration.

In Division One nine teams out of 20 are eligible for the 2016-17 league whereas only seven clubs have registered to play in Division Two.

CRFA fixtures secretary Antonio Manda confirmed the development in an interview on Wednesday in Lilongwe.

He however, said the league will still kickoff despite few teams registering.

given the teams until Thursday [today] as deadline.  If they don’t register by then, the door will be closed.  It will mean the teams are not interested, “said Manda.

Registration fee for Premier League teams is at K120 000 (about $177) while Division One fee is K100 000 (about $147). Division Two registration fee is K80 000 (about $118).

Manda announced that the league relaunch will take place at Kasungu Community Centre Ground.

“There will be a social game prior to the launch between Kasungu Socials and CRFA Socials. After that, Kasungu Police and TN Stars, formerly Kasungu Medicals, will face each other in the main game to mark the new season launch,” said Manda.

Meanwhile, Dedza Young Soccer Saints administrator Andrew Bunya has confirmed that the relegated side will play in the Chipiku league.

“The fact that we have been relegated means we have a place in the CRFA league.  We are going to play and try reagin promotion, “ said Bunya. n
