A field of 150 golfers has confirmed participation in the TNM Malawi Open Golf Tournament to be hosted by Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC) starting from tomorrow.

Malawi Open is an elite golf tournament organised and run by the Golf Union of Malawi (GUoM), but sponsored by TNM.

The tournament is used as a yardstick to seed top golf players in the country.

TNM head of marketing, Sobhuza Ngwenya, said golfers should gear up for an exciting time.

“This is going to be bigger and better than ever before. We have lined up many fabulous prizes and surprises for our customers as TNM combines mobile technology with golf on the greens of Lilongwe Golf Club,” said Ngwenya.

“We are very excited and proud to be hosting this year’s Malawi Open in Lilongwe. The tournament could not have come at any better time for us as a sponsor, as we celebrate another profitable year of business—and for the local golfing fraternity—as it prepares for the Zone VI Games in South Africa.”

Ngwenya said TNM, which has been sponsoring the Malawi Open since 2007, remains committed towards development of the sport.

Commenting on the country’s most prestigious golf tournament, GUoM honorary secretary Hudson Kantwanje said the TNM 2014 Malawi Open has generated a lot of excitement among golfers.

“Hype, excitement and expectation as we count down to the open is very high as evidenced by the fact that the tournament is already oversubscribed. We would like to thank TNM immensely for this kind of partnership since 2007,” said Kantwanje.
