Live Love, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has donated bags of maize and some beans to 150 households in Traditional Authority Malili in Lilongwe.

Speaking on Saturday during the event, Live Love director Blessings Chibambo said they wanted to lessen people’s suffering.

“We know that there is likely to be a bumper harvest this year, but currently most people do not have sufficient food supplies to sustain them as they wait for their harvest,” he said.

Chief Malili’s representative, Mungaphe Chiuzila, said the donation came at the right time when most families had exhausted their maize supplies.

“This being the lean season, most of us had no food supplies,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Verisita Seliyala, said she struggled to feed her six children.

The organisation is also constructing a school in the area.

That donation was funded by the Mosaic Church in the United States.
