Cheerful giving has been described as a catalyst for socio–economic development for the church and the society.

Chairperson of the Pastors Fraternal in Zomba Bishop John Chilimtsidya made the observation when their union distributed maize, clothes, beans and other foodstuffs to people who were affected by floods in the in area of Senior Chief Chikowi in the district.

Chilimtsidya said people who have little or nothing to sustain their lives with easily engage in robbery and immoral behaviours to earn a living. Others simply fall sick due to malnutrition and fail to participate actively in various developments of the church and the society.

Quoting from the Book of Acts 4:32-36, Chilimtsidya made it clear that the beauty of giving is that there would no needy persons among people for those who own numerous wealth distribute their belongings to those in need.

“Our country will continue getting poorer and poorer if we do not unite to bail out the needy people among us,” he said.

On her part, Group Village Head (GVH) Mayinuka hailed the pastors for the gesture rendered to her community.
