Bvumbwe Research marksman Vincent Chinthenga leads the TNM Super League Golden Boot Award race, barely a week after bagging a similar award for the Professor Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League.

Chinthenga, whose 25 goals fired Bvumbwe to the top flight league, has scored nine in the ninth week of the season that has registered 159 goals from 59 games.

Lying second on five goals are Diverson Chilemba of Mighty Wanderers, Civo United’s Welani Nyirenda and Boniface Kaulesi of Red Lions, according to Super League of Malawi (Sulom) records.

Rodrick Gonani, who was among the scorers in a 3-0 beating of Kabwafu FC on Sunday, is third on the individual scorers’ race with four goals alongside Innocent Bokosi of Blue Eagles.

Fifth best scorers are Asedi Ayami, Blesssings Tembo of Silver Strikers; Mafco’s Oswald Mkagula and Zasher Nong’oneza. Ishmael Thindwa’s 18 goals earned him last season’s top scorer accolade.

Also with three goals are Big Bullets’ Heston Munthali, Joseph Kamwendo of Wanderers, Lazarus Chirwa for Civo and Mussa Manyenje from Epac.

“Red Lions remain unbeaten this far, but together with Big Bullets have played a few games (six each) due to Presidential Cup engagements. Silver have scored more goals this far (17 goals) while rookies Kamuzu Barracks and Bvumbwe have conceded more (14 goals each),” reads Sulom statement.
