student again!

She is Chisomo  Machelo  who became the second queen from the University to win Miss Blantyre title at a glamorous event held on Friday night at College of Medicine Sports Complex.
A 21-year-old Machelo took the beauty mantle from Nerani Nthara, another

Machelo broke into tears of joy upon being declared Blantyre queen. She beat her chest in disbelief before overzealous fans swarmed her on stage.
She impressed from the word go, with her supporters cheering her up in every single category which took her to the runway.

A panel of three judges – Annie Ganiza, Gladys Kumbatira and Jones Kumwenda settled for Machelo in the end, citing her intelligence.
“At the end of it all, we were looking for someone who is intelligent and able to articulate issues. What we are saying is that this year’s Miss Blantyre is beyond beauty,” said Kumwenda, one of the judges.
Machelo went away with a car and attained ambassadorship of Blantyre City
Council’s Keep Clean and Green Initiative, among other benefits.
