3 months pregnant; no sex drive!

Listen to this article

Question:

I am about three months pregnant but have lost my sex drive completely. What’s surprising is that people have told me that my drive is supposed to rise during this time. Is anything wrong with me? Is my situation normal? Please help!

Answer:

Well, according to Pregnancy wizard.com, many women experience a change in their sex drive during pregnancy. One day, you may notice that your sex drive is very high and then the next day, you would not even consider a rendezvous.

All of this is quite normal as your body is changing along with your hormones. Your body increases the amount of progesterone and estrogen in your bloodstream. This can make you feel that you need to be close and protected and yes wish to enjoy sex even more. Not only are your desires changing but also your body will have increased vaginal lubrication, increased blood flow to the pelvic area, and increased sensitivity to your breasts. Some women desire more sex, while others have no desire whatsoever. Remember, all of this is quite normal.

During the first trimester, the sex drive is usually lower than it may be during the rest of the pregnancy. You are dealing with morning sickness, the added weight, fatigue, and many times, not enjoying the way you look. However, once you reach the second trimester, you have more energy, are beginning to be excited about being pregnant, and you become more interested in your partner once again.
