Police have arrested three people for allegedly destroying property belonging to Phalombe Central MP Felton Mulli following a disagreement between one of the three and the legislator.

Southern Region Police deputy public relations officer Beatrice Bwanali identified the suspects as Roy Beckford (22), Zohebu Assan (20) and Timothy Limo (25) all from Chipendo Village, Traditional Authority Machinjiri in Blantyre.

Bwanali claimed Mulli met the three on October 14 at one of the drinking joints in Chigumula, Blantyre, where he accidentally knocked down a bottle of beer belonging to one of the suspects.

“When Mulli [accidentally] knocked the bottle of beer, a quarrel erupted and the suspect’s two friends joined in,” claimed Bwanali.

She alleged that the three tore Mulli’s shirt, broke his vehicle’s indicators and stole his K50 000 and a Blackberry phone.

Bwanali said the suspects will answer charges of malicious damage.
