3 young ballers win US scholarships

Visiting US charity organisation Female Three Ballers (F3b), have identified three female basketball players from Lilongwe Girls and SOS secondary schools to be offered scholarships.

A 20-member F3b arrived in the country last week and have been conducting basketball clinics at Civo court in Lilongwe where the three Malawian girls were spotted.

However, F3b could not give the identities of the girls, but promised to reveal the names soon at a special function.

Speaking after a game between Cezobal select and F3b, the visiting team’s leader Josephine Wilson said the visit was an eye opener and that she was impressed with basketball skills from the girls.

“Apart from the sporting part, the visit was rich in that it offered an opportunity for a cultural exchange. It brought girls from diverse background together,” she said

Cezobal chairperson Khama Mphepo thanked F3b for visiting Malawi.

“Not only is the visit motivational and inspirational to our girls to take basketball seriously but it also offered them an opportunity to learn from their US counterparts. Our girls are now challenged to assert themselves and achieve life goals,” he said

F3b have already been to Rwanda and Mozambique.
