36 artists, 10 DJs nominated for UMP

The excitement is building. 36 Urban Music artists and 10 DJs have been nominated by online followers to perform at the Urban Music Party (UMP) this July.

However, more voting is scheduled to take place to come up with the festival’s headliners.

“The process has just begun. It has been an exciting two weeks on Facebook and Twitter where fans online have been nominating their favourite artists to perform at UMP. We are looking at between 5 to 10 artists and 5 DJs to perform at the show but we will make it official when we are announcing the voting shortcode,” said Edward Kankhomba of Prime Time Media, the firm handling the voting.

The final list of artists nominated includes Piksy, Armstrong, Nesnes, Trumel, Gwamba, Maskal, Lulu, Dan Lu, Young Kay, Barry One, Diktator, Dare devils, Revolver, Third Eye, Taygrin, Theo Thomsom, Tech Shozi and Mafo, Rina, Aycee James, Fortress, Tigriss, Juda Gaga, Slessor, Fredokiss, Mafunyeta, Bucci, Blasto, Masa Vega and Blakafella Mabilinganya empire, Biriwiri, Blakjak, Kumbu, Pon G and Weapon, Mr. President and Cyclone. DJs are Ken Klips, Joy Nathu, DJ E, DJ Joy, DJ Scarper, DJ Rabba, 3 Dougfresh, Pink Panther, Maya and Kari P.

This year, the festival will happen on the Independence Day weekend of 6 to 7 July, at Royal Palm Hotel in Blantyre.
