Nkhotakota First Grade Magistrate’s Court on Friday convicted four people for “jointly committing an attempted cheating offence contrary to Section 401 of the Penal Code at Nkhotakota Boma”. Nkhotakota Police spokesperson Williams Kaponda said the four, Kefasi Mwalwari, 41, Willy Kanyenda, 39, Flossy Khuwi, 30, and Julie Manda, 35, were ordered to pay fines or in default to serve a jail term. “Mwalwari and Kanyenda were fined K100 000 each or in default serve 18-month jail term while Khuwi and Manda were fined K40 000 each or in default serve nine-month jail term,” Kaponda said.
