4 Moyale players injured in road accident

Four Moyale Barracks FC key players Gastin Simkonda, Chrispine Fukizi, Boy Boy Chima and Lovemore Mitengo were involved in a road accident at Luwawa Six Turn off in Mzimba on Saturday afternoon.

According to Moyale team manager Gerald Kanje, Simkonda, who is also a national team player, is in critical condition after dislocating his right shoulder.

“Of the four, it is Gastin whose condition is critical and is still admitted to Mzuzu Central Hospital [MCH],” he said.

Kanje said Chima and Mitengo were discharged on Sunday, “but they are still in pain, while Fukizi only suffered bruises and was treated as an outpatient.”

Northern Region Police public relations officer Peter Kalaya, said the four players were travelling to Lilongwe with six fellow Moyale Barracks officers, including the station commanding officer Colonel Stanley Saidi.

They were travelling in a Toyota Land Cruiser registration MDF 317 which developed a mechanical fault leading to loss of control. The vehicle then overturned twice.

The four were rushed to Mzimba District Hospital before being transferred to MCH for further treatment.

 

Moyale Barracks FC general secretary Precious Gausi described the accident as shocking and wished those that were injured, a quick recovery. n
