5 die in Nsanje accident

 

Five people have died and several others sustained serious injuries after a minibus they were travelling in from Nsanje to Blantyre overturned at Kalenso Village along Khulubvi Highway on Wednesday.

Nsanje Police station  officer Andrew Jere said yesterday the minibus, registration BT 2276, overturned a kilometre away from Bangula.

“It is true that five people have died after sustaining serious injuries during the accident. Two people died on the spot and the other three died while they were on their way to hospital,” he said.

According to Jere, those who have sustained injuries are currently receiving treatment at Kalemba health centre.

An eye witness said the minibus was overspeeding and it overturned five times.

Nsanje District has so far experienced three fatal road accidents within a month. n
