62 prayer movements to intercede for Malawi

At least 62 prayer movements from various countries worldwide will from March 1 to 6 join hands interceding for Malawi seeking God’s forgiveness.

According to coordinator of the Repentance Week, Reverend Edward Mikwamba, the prayers have been organised by International Repentance Movement.

Mikwamba said in an interview the theme for the prayers for Malawi is ‘Lord heal our land of Malawi’ and is taken from 2 Chronicles 7 from verses 14 that says the country is sick and needs God’s spiritual healing hand.

“Over 300 intercessors will converge to a place to be identified to repent for the country. These intercessory prayers will be for every Malawian who is concerned with what is happening in the country.

“The country is experiencing brutal killing of albinos, same sex marriages, plundering of government resources is continuing in the country, wanton cutting down of trees that has been one of the contributing factors of climatic change and abortion, among others,” he said.

Mikwamba said on March 6, the main day will start with Jesus march at whose end they there will be repentance prayers.

Chairperson of the organising committee Reverend Sylvester Chabuka called all church leaders and traditional leaders to join hands for the cause of the country.

“We have to put the country first and as religious leaders, we have to repent for our country as other international movements join us. Our friends will repent for Malawi in their countries.

“These repentance prayers work because we have seen in the situation improving for the better economically for our neighbour Zambia where on December 18 their president Jonathan Lungu humbled himself before God for his country to be healed,” said Chabuka. n
