Seven people died on the spot while several others escaped with injuries after the bus they were travelling in from Blantyre to Lilongwe overturned at Mlangeni in Ntcheu.
According to Ntcheu Police Spokesperson, Gift Matewere, the accident happened around midnight on Wednesday. Matewere also alleged that the driver failed to negotiate a corner causing the vehicle to overturn.
Those who escaped with injury have since been rushed to Ntcheu District Hospital.
The bus belonging to Premier Bus Services is said to have had about 60 people on board.
