Mponela Police Station spokesperson Kondwani Kandiado said the two convicts—Chithope Senzani,27, and Landirani Phiri,18,—come from Kachembwe Village, in Traditional Authority (T/A) Kaomba in Kasungu.

Kandiado said it was heard in the court that on November 19 2015, the two requested the victim to accompany them to Bowe Trading Centre where they wanted to collect money. However, the victim noted on the way that his friends were equipped with pangas.

“Upon reaching Bowe, the convicts decided not to kill him, but offered him for sale to a businessperson at K3 million,” he said .

Kandiado said the businessperson rushed to Bowe Police Unit and informed police about the development and the two were arrested. n
