University of Livingstonia Students’ Union has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) worth K1 million to the institution’s three campuses.

Speaking on Tuesday, during the handover, the union’s president Solomon Nqumayo said they used funds meant for the Vice-Chancellor’s Trophy to buy the PPE because the event could not be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The items included disposable masks, soap, hand sanitisers and gowns.

In his remarks, Laws Campus college registrar MalidadiMkandawire condemned the students for the donation.

“The campus registered eight Covid-19 positive cases. We appeal to well-wishers for more support,” he said.

The PPE was donated to the university’s campuses,  namely, Laws Campus in Rumphi, Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences at Ekwendeni in Mzimba and Kaning’ina Campus in Mzuzu.
