‘Flames should score in the first half’
South Africa-based striker Robin Ngalande has said Flames should aim for an early goal in the forthcoming Africa Cup on Nation qualifier against Ghana’s Black Stars at Civo stadium.
Flames who lost to Ghana 2-0 in the first leg, need to win to by a 3-0 goal margin on October 13 if they are to qualify for the next stage of qualifiers for the finals to be staged in South Africa next year.
In a Facebook interview, Ngalande said an early goal would help confuse Ghana’s strategy.
“A 2-0 margin would look big with a team such as Ghana, but on a serious note anything can happen in football. The modern game is so changed. We should be the first to settle down and scoring in the first half will boost our morale. It is not easy to score in the early minutes, but we will just do our level best to score.
“The focus would better be on winning the match. We are at home and a win by whatever margin will be fine. Our aim should be a win. And I am pretty sure we will win,†said Ngalande.
He said people should stop worrying about the change of venue.
“It is indeed a blow to us to switch to Civo Stadium, but we have no choice. We cannot take risks by using Kamuzu stadium. It is just a matter of switching on the minds and stay focused. Anything is possible,†Ngalande said.
