ActionAid trains 60 ECD caregivers

Listen to this article

ActionAid Malawi has trained 60 Early Childhood Development (ECD) caregivers and four child protection workers in comprehensive early childhood development to improve the well-being of orphans and other vulnerable children. The two-week training at Ekwendeni in Mzimba was part of a 10-year comprehensive early childhood development project which started in 2011 as a way of strengthening the capacity of parents and communities who care for orphans and other vulnerable children to effectively deliver ECD services.  ActionAid programme coordinator Andrew Chapusa said they wanted to empower caregivers to offer quality and comprehensive ECD services.“We believe that early childhood development is a vital stage in child development and it is important that a child gets the best early development care it can to mould it into a reliable citizen,” said Chapusa. —DAILES —DAILES BANDA, Staff Writer
