Actors from Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) three traditional radio plays have received training on Southern Africa Development Community (Sadc) regional integration.

The two-day training was courtesy of National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust and it has attracted actors and actresses from MBC’s Sewero La Sabata Ino, Nzeru Mkupangwa and Pamajiga.

Sumbuleta addressing actors during the training

Speaking during the opening of the training, executive director for Nice Trust Ollen Mwalubunju said having a citizenry which is empowered will help facilitate achieve the targets of the regional block.

“These actors will take messages to the people out there. The people need to be aware of the protocols that their leaders sign and check if they are being implemented or domesticated,” he said.

Mwalubunju said due to the coronavirus pandemic, radio remains the most effective platform to reach out to people with messages.

MBC director general Aubrey Sumbuleta said the training will allow them to fulfill their role of providing education, entertainment and information to their audience seamlessly.
