Admarc cashier arrested over K11m fraud
Police in Machinga have arrested Liwonde Admarc cashier Chrispin Mangwiro for allegedly misappropriating about K11 million (US$27 027) and forging financial documents between June 2012 and July 2013.
Machinga Police public relations officer Andrew Mayawo confirmed the arrest of Mangwiro after he handed himself over to police at Liwonde on Tuesday.
Mayawo said the suspect reported to police in the company of his lawyer.
He said Admarc internal Auditors discovered the fraud and forgery after an audit at Liwonde Admarc.
According to Mayawo, Admarc reported the matter to Liwonde Police in February this year as the suspect was on the run until Tuesday.
Mangwiro will answer two charges of theft by public servant and forgery.—Mana
