Alliance for Democracy (Aford) vice-president Precious Chisi has joined the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

He announced his defection at a rally addressed by Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Symon Vuwa-Kaunda and DPP regional governor for the North Kenneth Sanga at Kaluweya Primary School in Traditional Authority (T/A) M’mbelwa in Mzimba on Sunday.

In his remark, Chisi said he has joined DPP because of its realistic development agenda.

He said his former party has lost direction and he would rather join the governing party where he can fully support the development of this country.

“I am done with Aford and I am now with DPP. It is clear that for a young politician like me, I can grow better in politics with DPP because it has good and realistic development agenda. I am confident that now I will contribute to the development of this country,” said Chisi.

While welcoming Chisi into the DPP fold, Vuwa Kaunda urged the gathering not to be cheated by opposition parties, saying President Peter Mutharika will run the country up to 2024.

“You should not be cheated by the opposition that there will be another President before 2024. The elections are over and the President of this country is none other than Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika,” he said. On his part, Sanga commended Chisi for joining DPP, saying he is the calibre of person the party needs in its rebuilding process in the region.
