Alliance for Democracy (Aford) Victory Queens on Saturday donated a wheelchair, mattress and cash to a destitute family at Area 23 in Lilongwe.

The family of seven is in a dire situation following an attack on their breadwinner, Dafter Duwe, by unidentified assailants in July last year that left him paralysed.

Aford Victory Queens leader Tadala Chihana, wife to the party’s president Enoch, said the group was moved to take action after hearing of the unfortunate incident.

“We will continue supporting the Duwe family in whatever way we can to sustain it in the long term because Mr. Duwe’s condition is sort of permanent,” she said.

The group also pledged to improve the condition of the family’s house.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Kate Duwe, wife to Dafter, said life was difficult under the circumstances as her husband was the breadwinner.

Group village head Mzumira of Tsabango II Ward commended the group for the support
