Following a successful story of January 27 African Print Party, which attracted a huge audience at the trendy 15 Sports Bar in Blantyre, Nyasa Music Awards returns with another party slated for February 24 at Cockpit in Lilongwe.

Dubbed ‘Reloaded’, the African Print Party is aimed at creating awareness for the new Nyasa Music Awards whose inaugural will take place at Blantyre’s Comesa Hall on May 5.

Chifundo Maganga, one of the brains behind Nyasa Music Awards, said they want to create a compelling brand for the first-ever Nyasa Music Awards, which will cater for all categories, including local music.

“We want to interact with the people in Lilongwe so that they can embrace our concept and appreciate the high standards that we want to set for the Malawian music industry,” he said.

Maganga further said Malawi should expect professional music awards that will cover all categories to ensure the growth of the industry in the country and satisfaction of the people, including artists.

“We are leaving no stone unturned because we want to make the entire music industry appreciate our efforts. We appreciate the support from the people that is why these awards will rely on voters to choose talented Malawian musicians,” he said.

Maganga, however, appealed to corporate bodies to partner the Nyasa Music Awards which are a first of its kind.

The African Print Party at Lilongwe’ s Cockpit will be spiced up by DJ Reubie, VJ Ice, DJ Crystal and DJ Flame. A Lilongwe-based artist will also perform and will be revealed on the night of the party. To gain entry, patrons will pay K5 000 and the dress code is African Print.

The inaugural Nyasa Music Awards seeks to recognise local talent and empowering artists and musicians in Malawi to compete favourably on the international market. n
