The players participated in the just-ended National Agriculture Fair at Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds in Blantyre last week.

Monsanto Malawi sales representative for Southern Region, Dennis Kachikho, in an interview on Sunday, said regional fairs would help increase the company’s visibility, which could also increase their customer base.

“If we could have fairs in all the three regions, a lot more people would come to appreciate our exhibitions which would not only increase awareness of our products, but also attract more potential clients,” he said.

International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) research assistant Olivia Kalichero said with the nature of exhibitions at the fair, it would be better to hold the event in regions to enable their customers appreciate their products.

“We sometimes bring raw food and prepare it for exhibitions,” she said.

Agricultural Commodities Exchange (ACE) for Africa programme officer Esther Kawale said organising fairs in regions would entail more farmers nationwide attending the event in their respective regions at minimal travel cost.
