Auction Holdings Limited (AHL) Group has assured growers in the country that it is geared to serve the industry well by operating structured, organised and transparent auction floors.
In a press statement on Wednesday, the group, which this year will operate Lilongwe, Chinkhoma, Limbe, Mzuzu and Kabwafu auction floors said it will continue to play its pivotal role in the tobacco industry during the 2017 tobacco marketing season.
According to AHL Group corporate affairs manager, Mark Ndipita the assurance aims at increasing awareness about the role of AHL Group.
“We also want to clear some common misunderstandings and perception that the company buys tobacco. We do not,” said Ndipita.
He said AHL Group key roles include offloading, receiving and storage of farmers’ tobacco, conducting transparent selling of Malawi’s tobacco through reliable and established facilities and managing a modern Information Technology system that ensures precedes payment within 24 hours of selling.
The 2017 tobacco marketing season was officially opened on April 11 2017 at Lilongwe Floors.
