Airtel Money Netball Championship regional finals will be played this weekend to identify four teams to play in the national finals.
Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) general secretary Carol Bapu confirmed that the games will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
Southern Region finals will be held at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC). Chancellor College (Chanco) will host the Eastern Region encounters.
Kamundi Lodge will host Central Region finals while Northern Region will hold the finals at Katoto Secondary School.
“Each region is expected to produce a representative for the national finals, meaning, to join seeded sides—Tigresses, Kukoma Diamonds, Thunder Queens, Prison Sisters, Blue Eagles, Civonets, Mafco Sisters, Mimosa Queens and Lameck Queens,” she said.
Regional champions will receive K1. 25 million while runners-up, third-placed and fourth-positioned teams will get K600 000, K350 000 and K250 000, respectively.
Southern Region finalists Chilomoni Sisters coach Linda Kaponda said they are ready for the finals.
“I cannot wait to see my team qualifying for the national finals for the first time and winning such a mouthwatering prize in the regional finals. We know it will not be an easy task but we are ready and determined to achieve the feat,” Kaponda said.
Seventy-two teams will take part in the regional finals. n
