Most of the country’s 28 districts reached the semi-final stages in the 2016 Airtel Money National Netball Championships last weekend, but there is uncertainty on when the district encounters will conclude.

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) general secretary Carol Bapu yesterday said they are yet to decide on the dates.

“Of course, the competition has started at district level, but we are yet to decide the dates for concluding the district matches before getting to the regional stage. We will announce the dates in due course,” Bapu said.

Blantyre, which is divided into urban and rural zones, is one of the districts that have reached the last-four stages and is waiting for NAM’s nod on the decisive dates.

The district saw Nyambadwe Queens, Izo Izo Sisters, Chilomoni Sisters and Shizaella Queens progressing to the semi-finals in the urban zone.

Gulf Sisters, Gerald Tasaukadala, Young Professionals and Snipers have qualified for the semi-finals from Blantyre Rural.

According to Blantyre District Netball Committee (BDNC) general secretary Annie Hanjahanja-Billie, they initially arranged to wrap up the district finals next weekend.

She, however, said they will have to wait for dates that the local netball governing body will set.
