Airtel Malawi brands and communications manager Isabel Kachinjika said in Lilongwe yesterday, the “mutual decision” is as a result of a new strategy that shall ride on the success registered through the brand ambassador approach.
“Piksy’s contract officially ended in November last year but because our financial year starts in April, we were trying to see what direction we are going to take for this year.
“That is why we took time to update people on the status of the one year contract. Previously, it was more of a gentleman’s agreement, but the actual contract started in December 2013 and ended in November last year.
“The decision has been necessitated by the fact that we are taking a different direction this year. It is something that we will reveal in a month’s time. But, our parting with him is very amicable, we have had a very good working relationship. If in future we have different projects seeking his services, we will be definitely call on him as somebody. He is part of the Airtel family,” explained Kachinjika.
She stated that since the start of the “fruitful partnership,” a lot has been achieved as Airtel has managed to support Piksy as a bonafide talented youth from Malawi.
