Airtel Malawi has retained Queens shooter Mwawi Kumwenda as its brand ambassador.

The mobile network provider made the announcement yesterday at Airtel Complex in Lilongwe.

Airtel marketing director Emmanuel Kasambala said Kumwenda’s one year contract is due to expire December 31.

“It has pleased Airtel Malawi to extend the tenure of Mwawi’s role as Airtel’s brand ambassador for another year. During this time she will represent us through a wider range of products and campaigns,” he said.

Kasambala described the netball star as a symbol of hope, motivation, inspiration and a reality check for the young and old.

“Through her, we realise that we all have what it takes to succeed and underscore our potential. To the Airtel brand, she is a shining example of our brand values of being alive, inclusive and respectful.

Kumwenda, who just signed for Australian side Vixens, expressed delight at the confidence Airtel has in her.

“I feel great pleasure and I’m also excited that Airtel has decided to keep me as the ambassador for this beautiful company for another year. I promise to represent them professionally.”

My message as a professional sportsperson remains the same since day one I started working with Airtel. I always train and work hard to improve and perfect my game so that I remain on top of my game and above competitions.” she said.

Kumwenda was voted player of the tournament at the Fast5 World Netball Championship that took place in Melbourne, Australia.

Airtel Malawi named Kumwenda as ‘It’s Now’ campaign ambassador earlier this year after 3.5 million subscribers voted her as an individual who inspired them the most to seize opportunities and achieve their dreams. n
