“As a company that knows the importance of connecting people, we also strive to connect people to their passions, because we believe that when you do something that you are passionate about, you can truly achieve your dreams,” said Kasambara.

VAM representative Florence Nthakomwa described the sponsorship as a new chapter.

Nthakomwa said they approached Airtel Malawi nine months ago with a proposal and when Airtel finally consented, it was a sigh of relief.

“This new chapter is not about rebuilding the sport pe say but rather unveiling of the relationship that has developed between Airtel Malawi and VAM. Without this sponsorship it could have been a challenge to identify sponsors for any sport rather than netball and football in our country that’s why we are grateful to Airtel Malawi,” she said.

Nthakomwa also took time to assure Airtel management of professionalism in the handling of the sponsorship.

“Be assured that the money will be accounted for accordingly. I wish to inform Airtel that all members partaking in this tournament have been requested to register for Airtel Money. Participation fee is also done through Airtel money. This is our way of thanking Airtel,” said Nthakomwa.

The finals started on Friday. n
