Alexander Hotels has pledged free accommodation at its Shire Highlands Hotel in Limbe for boxers taking part in Sunday’s Masambas Boxing Day Out.

Organised by Namisonga Boxing Stable of Chilomoni Township, the day will see four bouts lined up including one international involving Wilson Masamba and Tanzanian Furaha Mundengenya.

According to Namisonga manager, Charles Nkhoma, all the eight boxers will be camping at Shire Highlands Hotel free of charge.

“Even the Tanzanian entourage of four people will also be based at the hotel. We thank the managing director of Alexander Hotels, Innocent Ashani, for the gesture.

“Camping at such a luxurious hotel will help the boxers to concentrate on the fights and do well on Sunday,” said Nkhoma.

Mundengenya was expected in Blantyre last evening.

“He has already crossed the Malawi/Tanzanian border and will soon be leaving Karonga for Blantyre,” said Nkhoma.

The stable will on Friday hold a public weigh-in where all the eight boxers will be unveiled.

The three Masamba siblings Wilson, John and Limbani will fight on the same day for the first time.

John will face Isaac Sumali of Zomba in an opening bout while Limbani, who is unbeaten so far with four straight knockouts, will square up with Marshal Ali. The other bout of the day will be between Brighton Mdoka and Mussa Mkwanda.
