Alfonso heads for Barcelona
Malawi’s top fashion designer Lilly Alfonso continues to make it big in the fashion world as most of her work continues to be recognised by international fashion designers.
After touring several countries with her designs and being featured on BBC recently, the journey continues as she is expected to fly to Barcelona next month for another international fashion showcase.
Speaking when breaking the news to The Nation, Alfonso said she has been invited by organisers of the Barcelona Fashion Week to participate.
“I got communication from Barcelona last week that I should attend their fashion week next month. It is an honour to me and I am proud of that. I have already started my preparations and will leave early next month, “she said.
Alfonso said the event will take place from 14 to 16 June and will draw several fashion designers from across the world.
According to the official website of the Barcelona Fashion Week, organisers will hold the first edition of Africa Fashion Week Barcelona 2013 from 13, 14, 15, 16 June which Alfonso will take part in.
