All Japan Kendo Federation donates equipment to Malawi

All Japan Kendo Federation on Saturday donated kendo equipment to Kendo Association of Malawi during a ceremony held at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC). Japanese Ambassador Shuichiro Nishioka handed over the equipment on behalf of All Japan Kendo Federation. The donation included 10 sets of brand-new kendo equipment, 11 sets of second-hand kendo equipment, 20 bamboo and carbon swords called shinai, clothes, towels, and gloves. Speaking during the event, Nishioka encouraged members of the Kendo Association of Malawi to continue working hard in increasing the number of athletes, especially teenage kendo players and to spread the sport not only in Blantyre, but also to the other parts of the country.
