All set for Bankers Sports Day
Bankers Association of Malawi (BAM) will tomorrow host the annual Bankers Sports Festival at College of Medicine (CoM) in Blantyre.
BAM executive director Lyness Nkungula said the event brings together staff members of all banks in the country to interact while competing in various sporting disciplines, namely football, netball, volleyball, basketball, athletics, pool, egg race, bawo and chess.
The banks that will be involved on this day are Standard Bank, Ecobank, Nedbank, OBM, Reserve Bank of Malawi, National Bank of Malawi, New Finance Bank, FDH Bank, NBS Bank and CDH Investment Bank.
“This is a platform where bankers break away from work and interact. There cannot be another big platform for our members to share ideas and engage in sports,” said Nkungula.
She said winners in all the sports disciplines will go away with various cash prizes trophies and medals.
“Even top scorers in football, volleyball, basketball and netball will be awarded,” she said.
Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) director (governor’s office) and spokesperson Mbane Ngwira, whose team dominated last year’s event champions, said they are more than ready to defend the crown.
“As a bank, we take everything seriously. The event is part of our wellness programme and we are more than ready to fight for glory,” he said. n
