All set for Gateway Mall district finals

Central Region Netball Committee (CRNC) will on Saturday hold districts finals in the K35 million Gateway Netball Challenge Cup.

CRNC vice-general secretary Faggie Kazingatchire said the finals will be played in 10 districts with Lilongwe being divided into two, Urban and Rural zones.

The other districts are Salima, Ntchisi, Nkhotakota , Ntcheu , Dedza, Mchinji, Dowa and Kasungu.

“We are ready for the finals this Saturday. The champion from each district will qualify for the regional stage except Salima which has registered more teams (18) and will produce two teams,” said Kazingatchire.

Lioness will face Green Junior in the finals while Area 30 face Katalama in third place battle in Lilongwe Urban while Luannar Queens and Vanessa Sisters while Chitedze Sisters take on Don Bosco in the finals and third place respectively.

In Nkhotakota, Bana will play against Local Sisters while Nkhotakota Sisters play against DCGL Sisters in the finals and third place, respectively.

In Ntchisi, the finals will be between Noyd Queens and Royal Sisters, while Malaina play against Mmboola Sisters.

Lioness coach Frank Kuntendere said they are looking forward to qualify to the next stage.

“We aim to finish as champions and qualify to next stage. With this current rhythm, we will definitely make it,” he said.

Luanar Queens coach Kelita Nyirenda said they are optimistic of success on Saturday.

The district champions will receive K200 000 where as Runners up will get K150 000.

Third and fourth best teams will get K100 000 and K75 000 respectively.

Blue Eagles Sisters are the defending champions after winning two consecutive years. n
