Hotel Victoria marketing manager Emma Chithenga said the tournament, to be played on match play format, is part of fulfilling the company’s corporate social responsibility.

“Hotel Victoria has always been associated with golf as a way of giving back to our customers,” she said.

The Hotel Victoria Match Play golf started in February with a pair of two teams competing against each other, according to Blantyre Sports Club golf captain Webster Kaunga.

Furkani Gani, who is also the hotel’s general manager, will battle out Nasir Surtee in the final with the winner walking away with a K100 000 IntoSports shopping voucher and a trophy while the runner-up will get a K75 000 voucher and a trophy as well.

“Apart from the final, we have several categories. In men’s medal category, the winner will pocket a K100 000 voucher and a trophy, the runner-up will get a K75 000 voucher and a trophy while the third-placed will get K50 000 voucher and a trophy.” Kaunga said.

“In ladies’ medal category, the winner will get a K75 000 voucher and a trophy while the runner-up will get a K50 000 voucher as well. There will also be a junior golfers’ category and the winner will get a trophy.”

Hotel Victoria is sponsoring the tournament through three entities—Hotel Victoria, Victoria Gardens and Victoria Catering.

Gani said the hotel offers the best accommodation for business people and has best conference facilities which can cater for up to 500 people.

He said: “Victoria Gardens has a multipurpose convention centre which can accommodate up to 1 200 people. It can host weddings, conferences, workshops and church events. Victoria Catering is designed for small or big functions with any number of people.”
