Black Missionaries Band leader Anjiru Fumulani has confirmed that Sizzla Kalonji and Alpha Blonde who showed interest to perform at Matafale’s memorial show this Sunday have failed to come.

“Companies did not come forward with sponsorship and we did not have enough to secure their flight tickets and accommodation during their stay,” said Anjiru.

However, the show still goes on this Sunday, with local artists on the playlist of the concert.

Earlier this year, Black Missionaries reported that the two reggae maestros showed interest in performing at the memorial for free with their travel and accommodation taken care of by the organisers of the concert.

The Matafale Memorial concerts are an annual event held in Chileka at Singano Village in Blantyre in memory of Evison Matafale who died in police custody on 27 October 2010. Matafale is the founder of Black Missionaries Band and earned respect from the Rastafarian community.
