Anchor Industries and Fargo will face-off in the FMB Twenty-20 (T-20) Cricket Tournament finals this Sunday following their respective thrilling semi-final victories at Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) in Blantyre last weekend.

Anchor booked their ticket with a 195-120-run victory over Victoria Forex Bureau while Fargo, who gave full game time to up-and-coming indigenous player Frank Alick, eased past EasyPack by eight wickets.

To win by 75 runs, Anchor relied mostly on individual brilliance of in-form batsman Tausif Rustam and enterprising bowler Mubbsir Aamiji, who made 58 runs and claimed three-wickets respectively.

Although Victoria’s Jayendra Kher and Samitha Lanka tried their best to chase down Anchor’s scores with 27 runs and three wickets in that order in the second innings, their efforts were not good enough to set the team on the right path to glory as the gods seemed to have already smiled on Anchor.

In the second semi-final, usual suspect Eshan Jonty was on fire; making 58 runs to steer Fargo to a comfortable triumph. Aasim Chaudhry took two wickets to cement the victory.

The competition’s organising chairperson and MSC sports director Abdul Wahab Jagot said they expect fireworks in the finals at MSC next Sunday.
