APM appoints board members for Egenco, shakes MBC board
President Peter Mutharika has made some changes in the board for the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and appointed board members for the newly formed Electricity Generation Company Limited (Egenco).
The appointed members include members of the clergy and traditional leaders.
In a statement signed by Chief Secretary to Government Lloyd Muhara, the appointments are with immediate effect.
While Reverend Billy Gama has been maintained as chairperson of the MBC board, Wisdom Chimgwede and Zione Themba have been removed and replaced by George Phiri and Martha Pakaine.
On the other hand, Muhara himself has been appointed Board chairperson for Egenco with Arthur Sabrel Mandambwe, Mary Nkando, Gloria Chawinga, Reverend Noel Gama, Secretary to the Treasury, Secretary for Natural Resources Energy and Mining, Solicitor General and Secretary for Justice as members.
Last month Mutharika appointed new parastatal board members including those of the Central Region Water Board (CRWB), Blantyre Water Board (BWB) and Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) following expiry of their mandates.
