Odillo: Lets wait and see

Army General Henry Odillo has given a ‘let’s wait and see’ response on the prospect of him promoting newly-ordained Carlsberg Cup kings Kamuzu Barracks (KB) in the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) ranks.

“We shall see. But it is a great achievement for our teams to win cups. These boys are working hard. We always encourage them that if they want to win, they must work hard, be dedicated and disciplined,” Odillo said.

The Nation had contacted Odillo before KB edged Moyale Barracks 1-0 at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday on whether he would also recognise the Lilongwe soldiers just as he did with Mafco when they won the Presidential Cup in July.

In a post-match interview, KB coach Billy Phambala said his charges were hungrier to achieve more, adding that his message to the players has always emphasised on unity and discipline.

“I thought the games we played before reaching the final were the toughest. We would urge fans to come on board and support our team. Results on the pitch are speaking for us, so why wait? We are the real deal,” Phambala told MBC.

Earlier, KB general secretary Dickson Ntontholo said Mafco’s promotions had spurred his charges to work harder.
