Asians give KCN K1m drugs

Lilongwe Asian Youth Committee (Layc) on Monday gave Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) about K8 million drugs to help ease the acute drug shortage at the referral hospital. Speaking during the drugs handover, Layc spokesperson Ishaq Tutla said the consignment included antibiotics and surgical items and sutures.

KCH deputy director Davis Mtotha said the donation will, among others, help address the acute shortage of drugs for children. “The disease burden is at its highest during the rainy season,” he added. KCH paediatrician Dr. Hans Lang said the hospital’s Children’s Ward is currently registering about 80 new admissions every day.
