Aspirant courts Mponela youths
Dowa Central Constituency People’s Party (PP) aspirant Annie Chibwana on Saturday interacted with youths from Mponela and the surrounding areas and donated 22 balls to the youth’s football teams.
The balls will be shared among teams from all 22 polling centres in the constituency.
Speaking to journalists, Chibwana said she was saddened to learn that most youths in the constituency are indulging in practices that ruin their future.
Chibwana, who was accompanied by one of President Joyce Banda’s campaign team member Nekhantani Kalimwendo, pledged to introduce youth-friendly programmes in the area once voted into power.
“It is a fact that most young people in this constituency are unemployed and even the Bible says an idle mind is the devil’s workshop; hence, my gesture today to donate these balls for them to concentrate on sporting activities,” she said.
Chibwana commended the President for picking Sosten Gwengwe as her running mate in the forthcoming May 20Tripartite Elections, saying the President has proved that she cares for the youth in the country.
