Mighty Be Forward Wanderers Cameroonian forward Lionel Asu is now linked with a move to Fisd Wizards, formerly Surestream FC.
The development comes barely a few days after Asu—through his agent Prince Jere— announced that he had severed ties with the Lali Lubani Road outfit.
Jere yesterday confirmed having been contacted by Wizards officials who inquired about Asu.
“They have shown interest, but we have asked them to hang on a bit to give the player a chance to reflect after the frustration that he has gone through at Wanderers,” said Jere.
However, while confirming that there was indeed interest from some quarters within the team’s management, Mponda yesterday said he had his own reservations.
“It is true. After it was announced that he had quit Wanderers, there were suggestions within the club management to consider signing him, but my position is that while there is need to beef up the team in a few areas, there are certain technical, tactical and administrative aspects that we have to look at.
“Asu is a good player, no doubt about that. But he might not fit our plans as at now,” said Mponda.
Meanwhile, Asu was expected to meet Wanderers general secretary Mike Butao yesterday to agree on the terms regarding contract termination.
